The latest round of games in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) will take place later today at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu, Accra with a touch of the upcoming Ghana Basketball Awards.
The 2016 Awards will take place on August 12 at the Best Western Premier Hotel and has prominent fixtures in today’s games in there.
Defending champions Braves of Customs come up against Fire Service as a rejuvenated Reformers of Prisons side faces Galaxy. Female Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Year nominees Matilda Gordon and Berlinda Boateng of Braves will come up against fellow nominee Carlyn Adjei of Fire in the matchup.
On the other hand, Selina Quaye, an MVP nominee, will headline Galaxy’s charge against Juliana Cudjoe’s Reformers.
The youngest nominee of the bunch, Cudjoe has made a successful transition to elite basketball after graduating from Aggrey Memorial Mount Zion Senior High School to playing a key role off the bench for Reformers.
Her introduction to the team during the mid season registration period has coincided with the team’s two game unbeaten run including a 59-51 win over second place Air Force. The youngster has come off the bench to play well in a deep backcourt that features former MVP nominee Promise Ofori, Elizabeth Adebkah and Augustina Amuzu.
The former Aggrey standout won MVP honors at the 2016 Sprite Ball Championship after guiding the team to the title.
