The upcoming 2016 Ghana Basketball Awards continues to attract big shots in the sport with the news of NBA Vice President and Managing Director for Africa, Amadou Fall’s scheduled appearance at the Awards.
The much anticipated annual event will take place at the Best Western Premier Hotel in Ghana’s capital, Accra on August 12 where stakeholders in the sport will be honored.
Reports gathered by Basketballghana.com indicate Fall will grace the occasion with Toronto Raptors General Manager Masai Ujiri who was earlier keyed in to make an appearance at the event.
Fall, a Senegal native, spent 12 years with the Dallas Mavericks as a director player personnel and vice president of international affairs. Under his watch, a team comprising NBA players including Los Angeles Clippers Guard Chris Paul, Luol Deng and Bradley Beal, played an exhibition game in South Africa, where proceeds were donated to the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
Other dignitaries set to grace the event include Sports Minister Nii Lante Vanderpuye and Ghana Basketball Association Chairman David Addo Ashong.
This year’s awards is headlined by a plethora of standout talents in several competing categories such as Most Valuable Male Player of the Year category which has Suleman Abubakar, Hashim Brimah, Maxwell Mod and Abdul Mutaleeb Alhassan.
