The GSP (Global Sports Project) Basketball League is inching towards recommencing in August as the month draws closer following an extensive break. Ghana’s Brong-Ahafo regional capital Sunyani, has been the epicenter of one the emerging top leagues in the country.
The league, which is dominated by teams from tertiary educational institutions, has been in recess since the first round of games took place in late April as the educational calendar came to a close. It is however, scheduled to return in late August.
Non-tertiary teams competing in the league in the meantime have been keeping in shape by playing series of friendly games.
Public Relations Officer Daniel Addo stated in an interview with Basketballghana.com, the break also give management the opportunity to address key areas including sponsorship and publicity.
First round games of the second edition of the league had interesting results being recorded as Barracks Scorpions beat West Siders 36-29. Catholic University College Saints beat Sunyani Polytechnic 34-29 and last season’s whipping boys Desert Rabbits beat Lir Royals 43-27.
Defending champions Sun City Braves earned an easy win via a walk over.
