University of Connecticut (UConn) Male Basketball Team Captain Amida Brimah has been pinned as the crucial piece of the team ahead of the upcoming season. The Ghanaian Center was the main subject of discussion in Bleacher Report’s projections for the new season.

Brimah, who would be returning for his final season at Connecticut, will have to shoulder a lot of responsibility in the absence of Daniel Hamilton, Shonn Miller and Sterling Gibbs who opted to go pro.

Hamilton got drafted by Oklahoma City Thunder with the 56th pick in June’s Draft before joining Hamilton, Miller and Sterling in Summer League Games.

The 7 footer has been one of the best shot blockers through his three year stay in college averaging 2.8 blocks per game; In 100 games played, he has recorded 280 blocks.

However, his stunted growth on the offensive end has held him back from holding a higher rank. In the run up to Connecticut’s second round exit in the championship tournament, Amida missed 11 games to a finger injury.

The 22 year old is expected to be drafted after graduating next year in which case, he will be the second Ghanaian-born player in the NBA.
