2016 Ghana Basketball Awards Committee Chairman Princeworth Anane-Asare has expressed confidence that the upcoming event will be transparent following stringent measures taken by the committee to ensure fairness.
The 2016 Ghana Basketball Awards will take place at the Best Western Premier Hotel in Ghana’s capital, Accra on August 12.
Speaking on premium basketball show “Fast Break” which airs on Ghanaian channel TV3, the veteran administrator reiterated the committee’s desire to ensure the highly anticipated event will be fair to all stakeholders in the industry.
“We want this year’s awards to be transparent that is why we set up the Electoral College to get everyone involved.
We want everything to be free and fair” he said in reaction to a question from Host Yaw Sakyi Afari.
This year’s awards is on pace to be unique with the addition of several measures including the Electoral college which is comprised of Coaches and Captains of teams that competed in basketball events at various levels.
For the first time since the first Awards ceremony in 2013, some members of the media will vote for nominees in the respective categories.
This year’s edition is headlined by several competitive categories including the High School Male Player of the Year category which features Dennis Dugbenu of St. Augustine’s College, Kofi Aboagye Acheampong of Mfantsipim School and Emmanuel Agyapong of Opoku Ware School.
