Blue Crest College Basketball Head Coach Kofi Agyemang Kwarteng has stated his team isn’t “doing something right” following the institution’s absence in nominees for the upcoming 2016 Ghana Basketball Awards.

The prestigious annual event takes place on August 12 at the Best Western Premier Hotel in Ghana’s capital, Accra.

Speaking to Basketballghana.com, Kwarteng, a former standout Guard said he was okay with his side’s absence among shortlisted nominees.

“Well, I guess so. It means there’s something we may not have done right. So I see it as a wake up call” he said.

Under his guidance Blue Crest debuted in the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship this year and made an early statement by topping 2015 quarter finalists Zenith University College in its opening game in Zone F.

However, close losses to Valley View University and defending champions Accra Polytechnic ensured Blue Crest’s failure to progress to the quarter finals.

Zone F opponents Accra Polytechnic will feature heavily in the awards as several players from the institution’s male and female teams have been nominated.

Suleman Abubakar and Abdul Mutaleeb Alhassan have been nominated for the Tertiary Male Player and Most Valuable Player of the Year respectively. Matilda Gordon has been nominated in both categories listed above in the women’s division.
