DC Dynamics earned a close win by beating Fire Service 66-65 in a nerve wracking game that set the tone for an enthralling round of games in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division games played at the Prisons Court in Cantonments, Accra.
Dynamics win was followed by Tema Youth’s relatively easy 66-42 win over Teshie Rangers as Navy piped Air Force 54-46 in overtime in the final game.
Fire Service unbeaten streak was ended by Dynamics’ Guards Lankai Blankson and Sena Asante’s cold blooded shooting from distance with seconds left to play.
With time running out on an exhibition of elite athleticism that featured multiple dunks and alley oops, Fire Shooting Guard Daniel Laryea had the chance to send the game into overtime but missed one of two free throws to hand Dynamics a third win of the season.
Tema Youth’s matchup against Teshie Rangers didn’t live up to expectation as both sides committed many turnovers and the game got saved a tirade of three points shots from Rangers Gabriel Numarworse and Bernard Tetteh made things interesting down the stretch.
However, Marco Akibu and Sam Buodum combined for several plays for Tema to see the game through comfortably.
The final game of the day stretched into overtime as Air Force and Navy got locked up at 45 apiece at the end of four intense quarters. Returning big man Benjamin Sowah was unstoppable for Air Force as his late three point shot was undone by another shot from distance to extend the game’s duration.
Joe Ayieattah and Eric Adoko buried key baskets in overtime to give victory to Navy over their close rivals.
