Braves of Customs’ quest for another title looks ominous at this point in the season following a 41-24 win over Galaxy in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women’s Division at the Prisons Court in Cantonments, Accra.
The game was preceded by home side Reformers of Prisons 53-37 win over Navy before a buoyant partisan crowd. Reformers channeled the good form it has enjoyed recently into an impressive win over a Navy side that flatters to deceive as an exciting side that fails to get the job done.
The latest loss condemns Navy to a winless in seven games and the basement of the standings. Despite playing well in most games, end up losing focus in key parts of the game and fail to win the game. Against Reformers, members of the team looked crestfallen facing an 18-34 deficit at the end of the third quarter.
Coach Alexander Tindani has remained confident in the team’s ability to win games but the frustration of losing seven games got to him as he could be seen slumped speechless in his seat in the fourth quarter.
Braves however, extended its winning streak to seven with a professional outing display to beat Galaxy. It took a while for Galaxy bigs Harriet Hayford and Naa Shika Moffat to impose themselves in the game at which the side was down 14-31 before the fourth quarter.
Braves Guards Afia Agyemang and Grace Doe were instrumental in the huge lead by making key strips.
