Defending ABL (Accra Basketball Leafue ) champions Braves of Customs had to dig deep to upstage close rivals Tema Youth 75-65 as DC Dynamics moved up the standings by beating Navy 63-56. Both games lit the Lebanon House Court in Tudu as fans got treated to amazing basketball from all teams involved.
Dynamics went into the game in last place of the 10 team standings but delivered a win on the back off elite shooting from lead Guard Lantei Blankson Mills. Both sides didn’t fare well in the first half especially on offense and the score line at the end of the first quarter, seven all, perfectly reflected the dull affair.
However, actions livened up in the second half as Blankson got things rolling on offense with consecutive three pointers as Dynamics attempted lots of three point shots. Navy’s Zakari Alhassan and Eric Adoko made key plays down the stretch to send the game into overtime. More three point makes from Blankson and inside points from Francis Akoh and David Maja ensured victory for DC.
Tema Youth and Braves matchup proved to be riveting and added yet another page to the historic rivalry in the league. For three quarters, Tema led with varying margins but conceded the game’s lead and win in the fourth quarter as Baniba Dodzie proved unstoppable from the three point area.
In a highly physical game, both sides had men exit the game due to foul trouble as Braves starting Point Guard Hashim Brimah limped off to the bench. That meant Dodzie and Abdul Mutaleeb Alhassan were needed to see the game through.
