Leaders in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Braves of Customs and Tema Youth will go at each other later today at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu. The much anticipated game will headline a pair of tricky fixtures in the Men’s first Division.
Navy will play DC Dynamics before home side Tudu Magic plays the unbeaten Fire Service later in the day.
Defending champions Braves lead the standings with 10 points and a colossal goal difference of 169 following an unbeaten run in five games this season. Tema checks in second place just a point behind Braves after suffering a shock loss to Navy on the first day of the season.
Braves stuttered somewhat against DC Dynamics in the previous round before putting the game to bed courtesy a vintage Paul Gomerli performance. The veteran Point Guard backed down Francis Akoh on multiple possessions which drew double teams but kicked the ball out to open teammates to score. Guards Baniba Dodzie, Mutaleeb Alhassan and Suleman Abubakar profited from such moves.
Tema on the other hand, had no problems condemning Holy Family to a fifth straight loss in the league by winning 63-54. Though Family has been the whipping side this season, the win proved a little tough for Tema who played the game with only eight players.
Youth is seen as the side capable of ending Braves winning streak in the league and will get the chance to prove this notion right.
