Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division outfit Braves of Customs will face second placed Tema Youth in a headline game later today at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu. The latest round of games will have Navy play DC Dynamics and Fire Service play home side Tudu Magic.
Braves dynamic trio of Abdul Mutaleeb Alhassan, Suleman Abubakar and Hashim Brimah have been nominated in multiple categories in the upcoming Ghana Basketball Awards slated to take place on August 12 at the Best Western Premier Hotel in Accra.
The above mentioned names join University of Ghana’s Maxwell Mod as the shortlisted nominees in the Most Valuable Player of the Year (MVP) Male category. Alhassan and Abubakar will face off again with Mod this time in the Tertiary Male Player of the Year category.
All three Braves players have played key roles in cementing the Customs side as the most dominant team in the league and Ghana. Mutaleeb is the reigning MVP after his stellar season for Accra Polytechnic and Braves.
Hashim on the other hand, was nominated for the top individual prize in 2013 but lost out to fellow Brave Baniba Dodzie.
On the sideline, Coach of the Year nominee, Lawal Brimah will shout instructions to overcome a familiar but dangerous Tema Youth side. The teams occupy the two top spots on the league standings.
