Former Los Angeles Lakers star Lamar Odom reportedly continues to struggle with substance abuse after his near-fatal overdose in a Nevada brothel last October. Odom was released from a Los Angeles hospital several months ago and recently reportedly filed for divorce from his wife Khloe Kardashian. Odom had been seen at a handful of NBA events, including Kobe Bryant’s last game, sparking hope that he might have turned a corner.
But CBS Los Angeles has the details from a TMZ report that Odom was escorted off a flight from Los Angeles to New York after having several drinks in the airport and then repeatedly vomiting on the plane before takeoff.
Eyewitnesses told TMZ Odom was seen “pounding down beers and whiskey” in the Delta lounge at LAX before boarding the flight to New York. Upon taking his seat, Odom reportedly vomited in the galley and in one of the plane’s restrooms.
He then emerged from the restroom with “vomit still on his sweatpants” and took his seat, only to get back up minutes later to once again use the restroom, according to TMZ.
Odom was then reportedly “gently” escorted off the plane by flight attendants.
Odom’s situation sparked a huge outcry of support from the NBA community and the Lakers especially. The two-time NBA champion played 14 seasons in the NBA, and has always been beloved by teammates.
