All Africa University Games Basketball Champions, University of Ghana (UG) will hold a press conference at the institution’s Sports Directorate on Tuesday July 12 at 9:30 GMT. The conference will focus on UG’s Male Basketball team’s triumph in the African Games, recently held in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The team arrived in Ghana on Sunday and will join other members of University of Ghana’s contingent at the games at the conference to show case their medals and share some experiences competing in such a prestigious event.
Following their triumph in the GUSA (Ghana Universities Sports Association) and UPAC (Universities Polytechnics and Colleges) basketball competitions respectively, the team won the basketball competition to cap off a splendid year. The team managed to outclass the likes of University of Lusaka and home team University of Johannesburg.
Aside basketball, ,UG was successful in other disciplines leading to a healthy haul of five gold, eight silver and six bronze medals respectively.
The eight edition of the Games which is popularly known as FASU Games had 44 tertiary institutions from 14 countries in Africa compete in multiple sports disciplines including football, track and field, volleyball and table tennis.
