The second round of the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women’s division started off on a cracking note as home side Reformers of Prisons beat Air Force 59-51 before Fire Service quest for a second win in the season was halted by Galaxy’s 36-32 win.

The round of games which were played at Prisons Court in Cantonments had Reformers ladies side deliver a much needed win against an Air Force side that started out very slowly in the game. Reformers quicker start resulted in a huge 14-1 lead halfway through the first quarter; Air Force score four more points to end the first quarter trailing by 10.

However, Reformers lost its way in the remaining quarters to allow Air Force back in the game after Memuna Mumuni scored a layup to tie the score at 38. Promise Ofori of Reformers scored consecutive layups off the back of impressive steals to seal a win.

Despite a strong start by star Guard Carlyn Adjei, scoring seven points in the first quarter which a flurry of driving layups and a three point shot. Galaxy’s bigger lineup began to assert authority on the game and turn around an eight point deficit in the first quarter.

The ladies, who played in an uncharacteristic bright yellow kit, improved with after every quarter recording 29-16 and 36-32 wins in the third and fourth quarters respectively.
