Tudu Magic recorded consecutive victories for the first time in the Accra Basketball league (ABL) 2016 season by beating Reformers of Prisons 58-32 in the Men’s Division I. Magic’s win was emulated by Fire Service and Navy who recorded impressive wins over Air Force and Teshie Rangers respectively.
The games which were played on Ghana’s 56th Republic Day turned out to be liberating for a Magic side who have come into their own in recent times following an inconsistent start to the season.
The introduction of experienced Point Guard Ekow Amoako has given Magic a boost on the offensive end to complement its energetic defense. For Reformers, the loss marks a miserable run dating back to a 40 point loss to Braves of Customs in the previous round.
Fire Service played its first game without Small Forward Farahat Tamimu Aliu, who is still waiting for a final disciplinary decision from the League Board following his insubordination towards officials, and won by beating Air Force 52-42.
The final game of the day had Navy run riot over a Rangers side that looks nothing like the team that closed games with gusto. After losing 42-72 to Fire Service, Rangers produced another meek performance against a very good Navy side who accounted for a winnable game against Magic last month.
