Winless duo Fire Service and Navy face off later today at the Prisons Court in Cantonments in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women Division. Both sides are yet to win a game in the season in four games respectively and find themselves rooted at the standings basement.
The matchup will follow Braves of Customs’ game against home side Reformers of Prisons who desperately need some semblance of consistency to stand a chance against the unbeaten defending champions.
Navy have played better of the two sides but its’ end products have not fared any better than Fire’s. Navy has recorded close losses against the likes of Air Force and Reformers with the latest being a 34-36 loss to Galaxy in the previous round.
Against Fire Service, the team will have to slow down Point Guard Carlyn Adjei’s piercing drives into the paint and breathtaking passes. However, Fire’s over dependence on Adjei for any kind of offense makes the team easy to read and adjust to making it easy for team’s beat them.
To counter this, Fire Coaches Lawrence Nortey and Ralph played Nora Asamoah at the Point, moving Adjei to Shooting Guard against Galaxy which had Fire lead in the first quarter 8-7. Galaxy’s offense spiked in the latter quarters leading to another loss.
Both teams are eager to end their barren run in the season.
