Ghanaian champions University of Ghana (UG) will face a stern test later today in Johannesburg when the team comes up against Midland State University from Zimbabawe in the ongoing All Africa University Games.
The championship popularly known as FASU Games, officially began on June 27 following the opening ceremony which took place a day earlier. Both teams were engaged in tricky duels earlier today as UG beat University of Lusaka 63-41.
However, Midland will be a much tougher opponent considering the team recently competed in the Zimbabwe Tertiary Institutions Sports Union Games winning gold in the basketball event. The team will be riding a wave of form as their latest success in Zimbabwe came earlier in June.
University of Ghana’s title prospects will be hampered should they lose against Midlands in the crunch matchup. Having started sluggishly against Lusaka on a cold morning, the team will be expected to start strongly in much warmer temperatures in the afternoon.
