Ghana’s National Wheel Chair Federation needs $7000 to fund three officials to Morocco to take part in a technical training course due to take place in July according to President Max Vardon. Though the team failed to qualify for the African Games, the federation is expected to present officials for the session as part of its responsibilities as a recognized member of the world body.
Speaking to Yaw Sakyi Afari, host of top rated basketball channel “Fast Break” on Ghana television channel TV3, he spelt out the need to take part in the event because it will be of immense benefits to the country. He also spelt out funds must be available before the week’s end.
The training session will educate officials on specific technical nuances which is an important component in classifying individuals based on athlete strength and level of disability. According to Media Coordinator Sandy Asiedu, failure to honor the course will attract severe sanctions from the world body.
The team failed to qualify for the Africa Paralympic Games mainly due to acute lack of funds. Vardon entreated philanthropists and well wishers to come to their aid.
