Navy Coach Aleaxander Tindani has stressed the need for his side to perfect its game in order to win games in the league. His words comes in the aftermath of Navy’s 34-36 loss to Galaxy in the Accra Basketball League Women’s Division. The loss condemned Navy to yet another defeat extending the team’s losing record for the season to four with no wins.
Speaking to Basketballghana.com, the optimistic trainer was happy with the performance of his team but was critical of missed chanced particularly from the free throw line which cost the team a chance to end the winless run. He said:
“Yes it true… they (Galaxy) were fouling us here and there but you know the free throws we had a lot of turnovers in addition to the free throws. I believe that with time… we have to practice more on the free throws so that we perfect our game.”
Despite leading 15-7 in the first half, Navy pissed away the game’s lead by struggling on offense through the entire third quarter allowing Galaxy to get back into the game and take a 10 point lead heading to the final quarter.
Galaxy’s free throws fell as Navy’s consistently missed the mark before a flurry of three point shots from Veronica Kusi reduced the deficit to two before the final whistle. Prior to Kusi’s late surge, Point Guard Maria Mensah had two free throws but missed both.
