Tema Youth leapfrogged Braves of Customs to the summit of the Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I standings following a 56-38 win over Air Force. The Tema-based side joins Adenta Leopards –Division II and Braves of Customs- Women’s Division as table toppers.
Last season’s runners up have been on a roll since suffering a shock defeat to Navy in the opening round of the season. Tema is followed closely by defending champions Braves of Customs who are yet to be defeated this season but have played a game less than Youth.
A step down into Division II, Adenta Leopards are simply too good for the competition as the team is yet to be beaten this season and look odds on favorite to make it into Division I. Junior Reformers of Prisons lie second having lost to Leopards on the first day of the new season.
In the Women’s Division, Braves’ 48-29 white wash of Air Force maintained the team’s position on top of the division. The defending champions who are yet to lose a game this season like their male counterparts, have amassed eight points from four games followed by Air Force with seven points.
