Members of Ghana’s Wheel Chair Basketball Team held a training sessions at Accra Polytechnic as preparations for up competitions including the African Paralympics Games in Morocco and Rio Games in September.
The African competition will be held in Morocco between July 10 and July 17, 2016. Speaking to Basketballghana.com, Media Coordinator of Ghana’s Wheel Chair Basketball Federation, Sandy Asiedu opined, the training session was part of an extensive selection process.
“As executives of the Ghana Wheel Chair Federation, we met with the Greater Accra Wheel Chair Basketball Team to watch their training as part of a regional selection process. That will allow us assess players who will be selected to represent our national wheel chair team to participate in international tournaments” he said.
The team, made of veteran players have high hopes of being successful on the continent and the Olympic stage which will be held in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil from September 7 to September 18, 2016.
