Two-time NBA All Star David West has stated familiarizing with Ghanaians is one of the main reasons for visiting the West African country. His recent visit is the second time the San Antonio Spurs Power Forward has touched down in the country.
After making an appearance on television basketball show “Fast Break” on Ghanaian channel TV3 with former Ghanaian triple jumper Kenny Andam, the burly Forward was happy to be back in Ghana where he visited last year following his shock move from Indiana to San Antonio.
Speaking to Basketballghana.com, he noted the chance to familiarize with Ghanaians and Africans generally was a reason behind his visit.
“I want to continue to familiarize myself with Ghana. I love this nation and its’ people, beautiful people and am here to connect myself with Ghana and African people” he said.
West is also in Ghana’s capital, Accra to partner sports agency Prolific Sports, which Andam heads, identify talents in the country and help them secure scholarships in American Colleges and high schools.
The 35 year old had a successful season with the Spurs averaging seven points and four rebounds as a key reserve for the Western Conference semi finalists.
