San Antonio Spurs Power Forward David West is set to touch down at Kotoka International Airport in Ghana’s capital, Accra on June 11. The former Indiana Pacers player will visit the West African country for the second time in as many years.
He will be accompanied on the trip by Chief Executive Officer of Prolific Sports Kenny Andam and William Dudley who was part of his entourage on his first trip. Speaking exclusively to Basketballghana.com, Prolific Sports Scout Sandy Asiedu stated Ghana’s hospitable environment and outstanding talent enticed him back to the country. He said:
“David after a few days in Ghana expressed satisfaction and excitement about not just the skill level and how tall some of the kids were on the court during the basketball clinic; he also got the chance to celebrate his first birthday on African soil. Coupled with the sight of seeing Cape-Coast Castle and Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum… made him promise to return to Ghana”.
West is expected in the country at 8:15 am where he will be met on arrival by a special contingent that will include renowned basketball pundit and entrepreneur Yaw Sakyi Afari.
The 35 year old played a key role off the bench for San Antonio Spurs in the NBA and averaged seven points and four rebounds per game.
