Games in Accra Basketball League’s Women’s Division are likely to be postponed following torrential rains that have left most parts of Ghana’s capital, Accra flooded.
The scheduled games involve Air Force against Galaxy, Fire Service against Navy and Braves of Customs against Reformers of Prisons. The likely postponement comes less than a week after games in the men’s division were postponed as water pools on the court after a downpour rendered the court at the venue dangerous to play on.
With the onset of Ghana’s rainy season, the West African nation’s capital in particular has been experiencing heavy rains which have disrupted the league as well. The league’s two venues, the Lebanon House in Tudu and Prisons in Tudu and Prisons Court in Cantonments have been subjected to heavy doses of water since both courts are exposed to the elements.
Last round’s postponed games were listed to have fans and teams observe a minute silence to honor over 150 victims of flood and fire disasters which devastated Accra a year ago on June 3. Defending champions Braves lead the standings after going three games unbeaten.
Air Force are second having also won all three games but the team has an inferior goal difference to Braves.
