Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I Week Five games are yet to be decided by league administrators after the games were postponed due to a flooded court at the Lebanon House in Tudu, Accra. The fixtures which had Air Force up against Reformers of Prisons, Fire Service against Navy and DC Dynamics against Tudu Magic, were expected to take place on June 4.
A team representative, speaking on condition of anonymity, said his outfit had not received any information regarding the games and took a swipe at league administrators saying “Organizers don’t open up at all”.
However, the games could not to be played as heavy rains in Ghana’s capital; Accra drenched the court making playing on the already subpar surface even more dangerous to play on. Per reports gathered by Basketballghana.com, officials are yet to name an official date to honor the games.
Had the games gone on as planned, fans and players would have observed a minute silence to remember over 150 victims of flood and fire disasters which hit Accra on June 4, 2015.
The Fifth round of the league featured none of the top three teams in games. Defending champions and league leaders Braves of Customs, Tema Youth and Teshie Rangers occupy the top spots in the standings.
