The Accra Basketball League (ABL) will observe a minute silence today in remembrance of the June 3 flooding and fires which claimed the lives of over 150 people this time last year. The brief ceremony will take place prior to Reformers game against Air Force in the Men’s Division I.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Basketballghana.com, league representative Prosper Agbleta said “there will be an announcement before tip off and fans and players will be asked to stand and observe a minute silence for the victims of the flood last year”.
Week Five will also have Navy take on Fire Service and Tudu Magic take on DC Dynamics after the opening game. The league’s top three sides Braves of Customs, Tema Youth and Teshie Rangers will not feature in the fifth round.
On June 3, 2015 heavy floods damaged a fuel station at Kwame Nkrumah Circle triggering a massive fire outbreak which claimed many lives and properties in one of the worst disasters in Ghana’s history.
