Air Force Guard Justice Okropong says Air Force does not enough quality players and are not the better team following his side’s whopping 26-69 loss to Braves of Customs in the Accra Basketball League (ABL).
The heavy loss was the team’s second loss in the 2016 season despite going into the game with having beaten Teshie Rangers 39-37 in the previous week. Speaking to Basketballghana.com, Okropong was utterly gutted with his team’s performance against the defending champions. He said:
“I will call a spade a spade they (Braves) are the better team. We (Air Force) do not have much quality like they do. They were well built with regard to height compared to us. I don’t want to use the height as an excuse but I think they had a better team and that is it.”
Air Force never showed up in the second half after missing good looks at the basket. The team showed cracks in Braves famed defense as they consistently opened up the team inside the post. Air Force big man Sampson Annan was guilty of missing a chunk of the chances.
The team also lacked presence in the paint in situations where Annan moved to the bench as fellow big Benjamin Sowah did not play.
Air Force will be in action on Friday June 3 at the Lebanon House in Tudu, Accra against Reformers of Prisons. Another loss will condemn the team to a win in four games.
