Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division I outfit Teshie Rangers won its’ first game after undergoing a mid season makeover with a 54-51 win over Holy Family. The win which came in the fourth week of the ABL at the Lebanon House in Tudu, Accra was the perfect ending to a feel good story that sadly didn’t end so well with the first go around.
Rangers lost 37-39 to Air Force in Week Three after unveiling a brand new set of jerseys prior to the game. However, the team made good on the promise by captain Wisdom Etsorgali who stated the change “depicts the energy, skill and speed we are coming with” by beating Holy Family.
The team started out slowly like it has done since the start of the season. With six minutes and 11 seconds remaining in the third quarter, Rangers faced a 21-30 deficit but closed it down to 4 at the end of the quarter.
It completed the comeback midway in the final quarter thanks to two straight three point shots by Cecil Arthur before holding off Family’s strong run to secure its second win in three games played in the season.
The new look Teshie Rangers will not be in action on Friday June 3 at the Lebanon House where Reformers of Prisons takes on Air Force, Fire Service takes on Navy and Tudu Magic takes on DC Dynamics. Conversely, the Rangers have cleared the last hurdle announcing their presence in division I; a win in a spanking new kit.
