Unbeaten defending champions Braves of Customs, will headline a mouthful of matchups against Navy today at the Prisons Court at Cantonments in Ghana’s capital, Accra. The Week Four Accra Basketball League (ABL) Women’s Division will also have Air Force take on Fire Service in the opening game at 15:00 GMT, with likes of home team Reformers of Prisons and Galaxy taking on Police and University of Ghana respectively.
Braves head into today’s matchup as odds on favorites for the win against a Navy side which is yet to register a competitive win this season. The team has two games thus far in the league and its’ solitary win over Police was as a result of the latter failing to turn up for the fixture. Navy lost 37-45 against Air Force and 43-51 against Reformers.
On both occasions, the team played poorly in the first half but improved its’ output in the remaining quarters to close deficits accumulated in earlier quarters.
Should Navy get a better start, the team is likely to cause headaches for a Braves side yet to lose in 2016 and one that takes over games in the third and fourth quarter. In both games played this season against Fire and Galaxy, the team has had to come from behind to register wins.
The matchup between Point Guards Marian Mensah of Navy and Grace Doe of Braves is one for fans to lookout for when the game tips off at 17:00 GMT.
