Tudu Magic will host Tema Youth in the opening game of Accra Basketball League Men’s Division I today at the Lebanon House in Tudu, Accra. The game is scheduled to tipoff at 17:00 GMT.
The remaining games on the day will have Fire Service mark its’ debut in the new season with a game against Holy Family. Teshie Rangers will seek to improve on an opening win as they play Air Force in the final game of the day.
Magic defeated Air Force 43-40 to start the 2016 season on a winning note to the delight of their teaming supporters who invaded the arena in the team’s debut game. The team struggled at certain points against Air Force but had enough firepower on both ends of the court to secure the win.
In Shadrach Kotey, Evans Anfom, Eric Quaye, Emmanuel Gyampong and Anthony Adade, Coach James Okine has a solid core of starters and substitutes who can be relied on to deliver when called upon. Okine, an early Coach of the Year candidate for the Ghana Basketball Awards, slated to take place later this year, will be looking to pad his credentials with another win.
Fire Service female team has disappointed thus far, losing two straight games in the women’s division and the responsibility of ending the undefeated run falls on the male team. Featuring the likes of David Okoe Laryea and highly rated Center Joseph Boye, the fire team looks a decent side to bet on for a win.
Rangers, after recording a massive 52-50 win over DC Dynamics on the opening day, will be up against a strong Air Force side still reeling from a close but winnable game loss to Magic.
