The anticipated clash between undefeated Navy and Braves of Customs never happened as the latter pummeled the former 55-29 in a one-sided game during Week Two of the Accra Basketball League (ABL).
What caught the most attention in the week was officiating. All games were halted at some point to calm down coaches and players who berated officials constantly for making bad calls.
Going into the game with impressive wins on the opening day, many looked forward to a nail biting, tense game which never happened. Beating last season runner up Tema Youth 51-46 put Navy in the right place to achieve another big win over defending champions Braves.
However, Braves romped its way to a comfortable win despite going scoreless after five minutes in the first quarter.
DC Dynamics’ woes in the first division continued as they slumped to yet another defeat despite having a huge lead earlier in the game. The team surprisingly squandered a 20-4 lead over Prison Reformers in the first quarter to lose 59-65. The team suffered a similar fate against Teshie Rangers in the opening round and University of Ghana in pre season.
In the second tier, Adenta Leopards looks head and shoulders above the competition after registering a second straight win in Division II. The team beat Tema Youth 43-28 on Saturday.
