DC Dynamics inability to close out games in the final quarters came back to haunt them once again as the team lost 49-65 to Prison Reformers in the second week of the Accra Basketball League (ABL)played at the Lebanon House in Tudu, Accra.
The loss was the second consecutive giveaway by the team following its’ opening day loss to Teshie Rangers. Speaking to Basketballghana.com, team captain Dennis Boateng blamed the losses on his team’s inability to manage game leads well. He said:
“Basketball is a game of runs, you get some runs, they get some runs. I think we got a wide lead but we just weren’t able to manage our lead well and they came back to win the game”
Heading into the second quarter with a huge 20-4 lead, Dynamics’ 16 point lead was erased by a combination of good shooting from Elvis Pobi and non stop hustle on the boards by Mohammed Yakubu and Aziz Mohammed.
Dynamics kept themselves in the game despite the shooting barrage from Reformers with excellent movement on and off the ball which dazzled fans at the arena. However, the beautiful game degenerated into a shouting match between players and coaches on one side and referees on another side following controversial calls on plays.
Reformers benefited from such calls to claim victory and condemn Dynamics to a second straight loss.
