Playing better defense will be the main focus of Air Force male basketball team ahead of scheduled games in the Accra Basketball League (ABL) according to team coach Thomas Ankrah. The trainer made the statement following his side’s close 40-43 loss to Tudu Magic at the Lebanon House in Tudu in the second week of the new season.
However, the game was the first for both teams in the 2016 season and took a while before kicking into full gear. Though disappointed with loss, Ankrah was confident his side would come back stronger when certain aspects are tweaked. He said:
“All is about the defense our defense was sluggish at a particular time and that was where the problem came and I hope to work on that one. Another one is about the playmaking…we hope to correct it.”
The game had very little moments of outstanding brilliance from either side as both teams struggled to shake off jitters in the opening quarters of the game. Things picked up a bit thereafter with better ball movement which created ample spaces for Guards like Nii Koi Kotey and Eric Quaye to exploit.
Buoyed on by their vociferous home fans, Tudu was able to see out the game to register its’ first win of the season.
