Despite being keyed in as overwhelming favorites, Braves of Customs Coach Lawal Brimah, has played down talk of his side winning the 2016 Accra Basketball League (ABL) title. He made the statement after guiding Braves to a 55-29win over Navy at the Lebanon House in Tudu.

The defending champions and multiple winners of Ghana’s Greater Accra Region’s elite basketball tournament remain unbeaten and sit on top of the league standings with two wins from two games played in the league thus far.

Speaking to Basketballghana.com, the veteran trainer though impressed with his team’s start, would not be drawn into any championship talk. He said:

“Usually I don’t predict. I depend on my training, how I psyche my players up for games and then we play our game”.

Boasting a talented group of players including veterans Richard Borsah, Paul Gomerli, Baniba Dodzie and young guns Ebenezer Borsah and Mutaleeb Alhassan, Brimah is feted with an abundance of talent to win the league title.

The level of quality the team possesses has had many opposing team players and representatives tag them as favorites including Tudu Magic Guard Eric Quaye.

Braves annihilated Holy Family 69-37 in the opening round of the new season.
