Accra Basketball League defending champions Braves of CEPS have been tipped to win the 2016 league season again by a member of an opposing side. This time around Tudu Magic Guard Eric Quaye was the one conferring title winners on the Braves side.
The Magic Guard made this known in an interview with Basketballghana.com following his side’s 43-40 opening round win over Air Force playing a vital role in the debut victory in the new season. He pointed out his team will finish in either the second or third position but not first. He gave his reasons saying:
“You know that is obvious because Customs (Braves) is there. They have all the quality players; my team cannot match them. Player wise, they are better than us.”
Magic’s Team Manager Anthony Arjoh made a similar statement prior to the start of the season saying Braves will win the league because they are cared for better than the other teams.
Tudu Magic’s debut in the 2016 season was a long time coming following the league’s start date postponement from April to May. Further delay happened as the team’s opponent in the opening round, Police, battles administrative challenges leading to another postponement.
However, the win over Air Force gives the Tudu-based side a good start to the new season and will be hoping for similar results in upcoming games.
