DC Dynamics is set to face Reformers later today at the Lebanon House in Tudu, Accra at 18:00 GMT. The Dansoman-based side heads into the matchup on the back off a narrow 50-52 loss to Teshie Rangers in the opening round of the Accra Basketball League (ABL).
Last season’s Division II Champions surprisingly lost to fellow former Division II outfit Rangers after recording two victories over the latter a year ago. Despite coming into Division I with a strong inclination to shake up the hierarchy, they soon found out how tough the division can be after the upset.
Dynamics Coach Feranmi Olulonyo wasn’t too disappointed with the loss stating his charges fought hard and deserved a win but accepted the defeat as” part of the game”. However, the team must avoid defeat to Reformers to extend a a losing start to the season.
One aspect that needs addressing in the side will be the ability to close games. Dynamics led for long periods against Rangers but with a minute and 21 seconds left to play, the team lost on key rebounds which led to converted free throws to Rangers.
Prior to the season, Dynamics lost 36-38 to University of Ghana in a friendly game in similar fashion. The team had the game’s lead but committed two turnovers in quick succession which cost them the game. Those turnovers came with two minutes left to play.
