DC Dynamics opening game of the Accra Basketball League (ABL) ended in defeat as Teshie Rangers piped the Dansoman-based side 52-50. Hitherto, the Greater Accra Men’s Division I Basketball League now ABL, commenced on Saturday May 7 at the Lebanon House in Tudu, Accra.
Dynamics who beat Rangers twice last season on the way to winning the Division II title, led for most parts of the game including a 23-17 lead heading into the second half despite falling in the first quarter 7-8.
The game’s lead was shredded to a single point (45-44) with a minute and 21 seconds left to play before Teshie gained the lead to see out the game and seal a crucial win. The manner in which Dynamics lost was reminiscent of the team’s friendly game against University of Ghana (UG).
The recently crowned Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Champions UG, beat Dynamics 38-36 despite the former trailing the latter till the closing minutes of the game. With a little less than two minutes left on the shot clock, Dynamics turned the ball over twice which UG capitalized on to gain the game’s lead.
The team has its’ work out in the region’s first tier competition. Defending Champions Braves of Customs beat Holy Family 69-37 and Navy beat Tema Youth 51-46.
