DC Dynamics lost 50-52 on the opening day of the Accra Basketball League Division I to fellow promoted side Teshie Rangers. Last season’s Division II Champions beat Rangers twice but could not complete a hat trick of victories as the latter fought gallantly to overturn a 17-23 deficit after the second quarter.
Dynamics who led for most part of the last game on the opening day, let go of the lead (45-44) with a minute and 21 seconds left to play as Rangers top rated Center Emmanuel Ocquaye pulled down crucial rebounds which they capitalized on to gain points from the free throw line.
The Dansoman-based side seeming inability to put away sides in the closing minutes of games haunted them again in the loss. In a preseason game against 2016 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Champions University of Ghana, Dynamics pissed away the lead by committing two quick turnovers which cost them the game.
Dynamics Coach Feranmi Olulonyo duly pointed out the loss was a lesson that his side will learn from and play better in subsequent games. DC’s loss was not the only surprise result of the league on the opening day as last season’s runners up Tema Youth lost 46-51 to Navy .
