Greater Accra Men’s Division I Basketball League outfit Braves of CEPS leader Benjamin Baafi fully expects the quality of the 2016 season to raise the image of the league and put the eventual winners in a better stead to challenge for titles on the international front.
The veteran administrator made the statement when Basketballghana.com interviewed him prior to the start of the new season.
Touching on several issues varying from finances to technical changes to the league format, Baafi strongly believes the ability of the league’s winner to perform on international platforms goes in hand with the level of competition in the league. He said:
“This year I am expecting that we are going to raise the image of the league to a high standard because we (Braves) normally think international not local so this year we are hoping they (league opponents) will lift up their game so that we will get better competition here so that when we go outside (international), we can also raise the image of Ghana.”
The reigning champions began life in the new season with an emphatic 69-37 win over Holy Family. Parading renowned names including Mutaleeb Alhassan, Suleman Abubakar, Hashim Braimah ,Baniba Dodzie among others, the team is expected to win the league this year.
