Adenta Leopards beat Reformers 68-65 in the Greater Accra Men’s Division II Basketball League yesterday at the Lebanon House in Tudu, Accra. The game was the second on the day with CYO taking on Tema Youth in the earlier game.
After having a dull first quarter, Leopards Center Charles Annan took over the second quarter with impressive work in the paint as he made key baskets to give his side a healthy lead. Annan’s huge frame proved a massive headache for Reformers undersized defense who stood no chance against the burly defender.
Annan came into the competition on the back of winning Best Basketball Player of the Year at the Ghana Technology University College. With his inspired play, he made good on his promise to up his production after receiving the award.
Things took a turn for the worse however, as he picked up his third foul and had sit for long stretches of the game which halted his impressive scoring run. Two fouls followed in the fourth quarter and overtime which forced Annan to watch his team seal victory over the equally good Reformers to watch from the sidelines.
CYO defeated Tema Youth 45-37 in the game prior to Leopards win. Winner of the division will gain promotion to Division I.
