Air Force Coach George Bioh has expressed the need to work on the team’s endurance in subsequent games following a 45-37 win over Navy in the opening game of the Greater Accra Women’s Basketball League.
Air Force win ensured the team’s exploits in the opening half of the first game did not go to waste as a blip in the second half had Navy claw back from 12-21 to lead 28-27 and 35-34 in certain portions of the game.
In an interview with Basketballghana.com after the game, Air Force Coach Bioh was delighted with the win but conceded his team almost blew a healthy lead. He said:
“The game was okay, we played well…we lacked endurance so we are going to work on it when we go back to camp and come back better”.
A switch from Navy put a hold on Air Forces’ fast break opportunities which accounted for most of the latter’s points in the first half. Having those chances shackled by Navy’s improved defense, Air Force found it difficult to score until late in the game.
In the other games, Prisons annihilated Fire 62-30 before Police failed to show up for the game against Galaxy. Galaxy, as a result received maximum points and the game’s win.
