DC Dynamics will focus on single coverage defense in its’ friendly game against Navy set to take place tonight at Lebanon House at 18:00 GMT according to team head coach Feranmi Olulonyo.
The game will be Dynamics second in succession following a competitive scrimmage with reigning Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship winners University of Ghana (UG). The team lost 36-38 to UG.
Speaking to Basketballghana.com, Olulonyo, who guided the Dansoman-based side to gain promotion into the Greater Accra Men’s Division I Basketball League identified areas his side look to address in the game.
He said,”We’ll work to work on being able to play single coverage defense without being overly reliant on help. Also we had a lot of problems dealing with Legon’s (UG) multiple screens.”
The league was originally scheduled to take place on Friday April 22 but the starting date had to be pushed back to May 5 in order for a technical appraisal to be completed by the regional association.
Dynamics will make its’ debut in the league against Airforce with games against Rangers and Reformers to follow in subsequent weeks. However, Tema Youth game against Fire will be the opening game of the new season.
Reigning champions Braves of CEPS begins its’ title defense against Rangers in the second week.
