University of Ghana (UG) delivered another blowout victory in the ongoing 2016 Universities, polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball championship quarter finals at the University of Ghana by beating Valley View University 72-24.
The host team beat Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) 53-29 in Group A’s opening game on Day One of the quarter finals which was held at Accra Polytechnic. The win means Accra Polytechnic and UG will battle it out for Group A’s top spot with both teams recording two wins apiece.
Coach Meme Falconer’s team did not have to stress a lot as Valley View followed the heavy 22-81 defeat to Accra Polytechnic with another limp performance as the team continued to look nothing like the one which recorded two wins in Zone F.
The team got the chance to compete in the last eight after replacing Wa Polytechnic who also replaced original team University of Development Studies-Tamale. UG had the luxury of resting players for long stretches as the team prepares for a showdown with Accra Polytechnic in the final game of the Group.
GIMPA will play Valley View in the third round game looking to continue its improved play in the previous round.
The 2016 UPAC Championship is headlined by Rexona, supported by MTN, CAL Bank and Fanyogo in partnership with Basketballghana.com, Y FM, TV3 and Ghana Sports Newspaper.
