University of Ghana (UG) and Accra Polytechnic are set for the most anticipated matchup of the 2016 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship quarter finals.
The matchup will pitch the reigning Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Basketball Champions (UG) against reigning Ghana Polytechnics Sports Association (GHAPSA) Basketball Champions, Accra Polytechnic.
Both teams go into the game on with unbeaten runs in the championship which extends all the way to the preliminaries where UG topped Zone G and Accra Poly topped Zone F.
In the quarters UG dismissed Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) 53-29 and whipping boys Valley View University 72-24 in the opening rounds of Group A fixtures which took place first at Accra Polytechnic before moving to University of Ghana on Day Two.
Accra Polytechnic on the other hand, beat Valley View University 81-22 before struggling immensely in uncharacteristic fashion against GIMPA before winning 37-33 to equal UG’s unbeaten run.
Both teams have already booked the available spots in the semi finals from the quarters and will play the top two winners in Group B.
The 2016 UPAC Championship is headlined by Rexona, supported by MTN, CAL Bank and Fanyogo in partnership with Basketballghana.com, Y FM, TV3 and Ghana Sports Newspaper.
