Marshalls University College beat Royalty Elite Basketball Club 34-20 to win a four team tournament at the Aviation Social Center as the team continues preparations for the upcoming quarter finals of the 2016 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

The tournament also featured Central University and Blue Crest College compete with the reigning PUSAG (Private Universities Students Association Games) Basketball Champions, Marshalls.

Blue Crest College, fresh from an impressive debut in the UPAC Championship lost 23-37 to Royalty Elite in the opening game before Marshalls beat Central 25-23 in the preceding game leading to a showdown between Elites and Marshalls for the top prize.

In the final, Marshalls beat Royalty Elite 34-20 to win the tournament. Coach James Okine was impressed with his side’s output and was very confident his team would deliver in the quarter finals.

Marshalls University plays Takoradi Polytechnic in the opening game of the UPAC quarter finals before taking on University of Energy and Natural Resource and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in subsequent games.

The 2016 UPAC Championship is headlined by Rexona, supported by Fanyogo, MTN and CAL Bank in partnership with Basketballghana.com, Y FM, TV3 and Ghana Sports Newspaper.
