Wisconsin University College and Central University College have been eliminated from the 2016 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship following a disappointing string of defeats in Zone G qualifiers at the University of Ghana.

Both teams failed to win a game in the opening rounds of the Championship falling to unbeaten Marshalls University College and hosts University of Ghana (UG). Wisconsin lost 25-51 to Marshalls University and 32-52 to UG.

Central University lost 35-67 to UG and 26-42 to Marshalls University in two games. With only one team qualifying to the quarter finals of the competition by virtue of topping the zone, only one of Marshalls and UG will qualify to the last eight.

Both teams failed to qualify out of the preliminary round in last year’s competition when they were drawn in the same zone. The qualified teams will join qualified teams from other zones including University of Energy and Natural Resources, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and Takoradi Polytechnic.

The 2016 UPAC Championship is headlined by Rexona, supported by Fanyogo, MTN and CAL Bank in partnership with Basketballghana.com, Y FM, TV3 and Ghana Sports Newspaper.
