University of Ghana (UG) Sports Technical Representative Henry Nii Sackey has rubbished claims his outfit and Marshalls University College are in a two way contest for top spot in Zone G ahead of the 2016 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.
Both teams will be in a tough battle to top Zone G and qualify for the quarter finals ahead of Wisconsin University College and Central University College. Winner of the zone qualifies to feature in the last eight of the UPAC championship.
Zone G has been by Central University captain Sidney Larbie as the “Group of Death”
Speaking to Basketballghana.com just days before tipoff of the highly anticipated game between Marshalls and UG, Sackey is dismissive of Marshalls challenge. He said:
“They (Marshalls) are not our target. That match is already decided. Our target is the UPAC trophy”.
The matchup will have reigning Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Basketball Champions University of Ghana take on reigning PUSAG (Private Universities Students Association Games) Basketball Champions Marshalls .
Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and Pentecost University Colleges’ outstanding Zone A game will also be played on Friday to determine the winner of that zone.
The 2016 UPAC Championship is headlined by Rexona, supported by Fanyogo, MTN and CAL Bank in partnership with Basketballghana.com, Y FM, TV3 and Ghana Sports.
