Central University College has the best tactic to beat opponents in Zone G qualifiers of the 2016 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship on Friday April 8 at the University of Ghana according to team captain Sidney Larbie.

The team will be aiming for a top spot in the zone ahead of host University of Ghana (UG), Wisconsin University College and Marshalls University College. Winner of the zone secures an automatic spot in the quarter finals of the Championship which is in its’ third edition.

Ahead of the qualifiers, Larbie, a former standout high school Guard was pretty confident in his team’s ability to qualify ahead of the much fancied pair of UG and Marshalls despite potential absence of starters, Prince Wuni and Aaron Dinku.

“With the hype of Friday games, we just have to play hard and play all out. We will stay focused throughout. We beat Marshalls last year and I know they would be coming for revenge. With Marshalls we have to play strong. UG, we have to play smart” he said in an interview with Basketballghana.com

2016 Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Basketball Champions UG and PUSAG (Private Universities Students Association Games) Basketball Champions will clash in the zone’s headline game. Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and Pentecost University College’s outstanding Zone A game will be played on the day.

All four teams were placed in the same zone in last year’s edition where Central beat Marshalls 36-30 before losing to UG and failing to make it out of the zone eventually. However, should Central fail to make the top spot, it stands a chance of sneaking into the last eight as the best second place team between Zones A,F and G.

The 2016 UPAC Championship is headlined by Rexona, supported by Fanyogo, MTN and CAL Bank in partnership with Basketballghana.com, Y FM, TV3 and Ghana Sports.
