Blue Crest College’s 24-27 second round loss to Zenith University College in Zone F qualifiers for the 2016 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship cost the team a spot in the quarter finals according to Shooting Guard Emmanuel Kofi Otu.

Blue Crest College made a huge impression in its’ maiden appearance in the competition which I widely regarded as Ghana’s best tertiary basketball competition by beating Zenith University and falling 23-27 to Accra Polytechnic.

In an interview with Basketballghana.com after an enthralling game against hosts and two-time champions Accra Polytechnic, Otu however, blamed the loss to Valley View as the main reason behind his side’s failure to make the next round. He said:

“The second game, were really tired so we couldn’t move well, we couldn’t shoot, we couldn’t run back to defence but it affected us in that match”.

Accra Polytechnic qualified to the quarter finals courtesy an undefeated run that had them top the zone and earn an automatic place in the next round. Blue Crest on the other hand, crashed out of the preliminary stage with four points from a win and two losses.

The 2016 UPAC Championship is headlined by Rexona, supported by MTN, Fanyogo and CAL Bank in partnership with Basketballghana.com, TV3, Y FM and Ghana Sports Newspaper.
