Accra Polytechnic Center Suleman “Big Time” Abubakar has expressed worry about his team’s chances ahead of the 2016 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship quarter finals set to take place at the University of Ghana on April 14.
The team who double as two time winners of the Championship, went undefeated in Zone F qualifiers played on its’ basketball court to top the zone and secure a spot in the next round of the competition.
The top rated defender, who was named Most Valuable Player of the mini tournament after averaging 9.6 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks, was weary of the stiff challenge other qualified teams possessed. He said:
“I think in the finals it will be tough seeing how teams are getting prepared for the finals, it will be tough but as we have not stopped training, I say we can go through”.
Accra Polytechnic is set to face winners from other zones including last year’s beaten finalists Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Takoradi Polytechnic and University of Energy and Natural Resources in the next round of games.
The 2016 UPAC Championship is headlined by Rexona, supported by MTN, Fanyogo and CAL Bank in partnership with Basketballghana.com, TV3, Y FM and Ghana Sports Newspaper.
